Puppy Care Packages Tailored to Meet Your Needs at Folsom's Blue Ravine Animal Hospital

Examination, vaccination, deworming, and parasite control should ideally begin when puppies are 6-8 weeks of age. If a puppy is younger, early examination and/or deworming may still be beneficial. Puppies should be seen at 3-4 week intervals until the age of 4 months. If vaccinations are begun for a puppy older than 4 months, boosters 3-4 weeks after initial vaccinations are still needed.

Basic, standard, and premium packages differ based on your puppy’s risks for and exposure to certain diseases. Click on the links below for descriptions of specific diseases for which we vaccinate.

Basic Puppy Care Package

This package is for puppies with a low risk of exposure to disease.

Package Includes:

  • First two DAP (distemper, adenovirus, parvo) vaccines (starting at 8 weeks old and given 3-4 weeks apart). The second DAP booster is good for 3 years.
  • First rabies vaccine (good for 1 year)
  • Six months of heartworm preventative (Heartgard or Interceptor)
  • Microchip
  • Two fecal exams (used to test for internal parasites)
  • Two dewormings
  • An exam fee is included for all visits up to 6 months of age.

Standard Puppy Care Package

This package is for puppies with a moderate risk of disease exposure. This includes dogs that frequent the dog park, the groomer, or boarding facilities. It also includes dogs that have some exposure to areas inhabited by wildlife (e.g. they will go to the river or the lake or they have a yard visited by animals such as raccoons or skunks).

Premium Puppy Care Package

This package is for puppies with a high risk of disease exposure. This includes dogs with significant tick exposure, as well as dogs who hunt, camp, or travel.

Package includes:

** 6 months of flea control (Advantage, Frontline, or Revolution) may be added to the Basic or Standard Puppy Package for an additional fee.
